John, Randy, and Kyle arrived at the location at 7:00 pm. Once there, they brought their equipment to the Dining Room, where they set up base camp. After introducing the group to the homeowner, she went over the claims since she moved in the apartment. The building is a two apartment building, and the landlord/lower tenant was gone during the duration of the investigation. The homeowner's apartment is a one bedroom apartment. The homeowner moved into her apartment approximately 6 years prior to the investigation. Her brother had been a City Of Milwaukee Police Officer for several years and had died approximately four years ago by gunshot wound. The son of the previous owners of the building, named Jerry, had committed suicide approximately 15 years ago by shotgun in the current Living Room, which had been his bedroom. The homeowner believes the presence of her brother and possibly the previous apartment occupant, remain in the apartment.

While Randy and John began to set up equipment, Kyle obtained outside weather conditions and EMF and temperature readings in the home. After setting up his equipment, John took baseline photos of the rooms and did his sensitive impressions.

  • When the homeowner first moved into the apartment approximately six years prior, a postcard from the subject who had killed himself in the apartment was brought downstairs from the Attic by the homeowner. It had been placed flat down on a table. A short while later, the homeowner and her friend found it lying vertically against a picture frame on the table
  • Approximately one and half years ago, the homeowner found a butter knife, which had been lying flat on the counter, resting at a 45 degree angle against a microwave, which was on the counter
  • Approximately one year ago, the homeowner had been in her Bedroom when she heard the sound of something breaking in the Kitchen. She entered the Kitchen and found a broken Green Bay Packer glass smashed on the floor. She had no pets at the time
  • The homeowner reported that one year ago, a friend staying at the residence stated that the Living Room light turned off by itself and that she then heard the sound of something falling and then hitting another unknown object but nothing was found to be out of place
  • The homeowner has heard unexplained loud banging noises in the Living Room while in the shower
  • The homeowner reported on two occasions, she observed a distinct shadow figure in the doorway to the Kitchen, which is adjacent to the entrance to the residence
  • Approximately four years ago, the homeowner was in bed, accompanied by her boyfriend, when she observed what she described as a "string of black smoke" move horizontally and then down to the ground, in front of her. This was observed by her boyfriend as well
  • Approximately three years ago, the homeowner heard a female voice say a two syllable word in the Dining Room. This was also reported to her by her boyfriend several times. The unknown two syllable phrase was repeated three to four times each time
  • A lighter that is kept on the homeowner's nightstand flashes red and blue lights when the lighter is activated. The homeowner has observed the red and blue lights from the lighter numerous times, even though she did not ignite it at the time
  • One month ago, the homeowner heard the sound of the kitchen cabinets opening and closing while in the Living Room. The homeowner stated that when her brother was younger, the first thing he did when he got home was to go through the cabinets in his mother's kitchen
  • The homeowner reported that the previous renter heard unexplained sounds and voices
  • The homeowner reported that on November 17, 2012, the plastic edging for a poster, which had previously been the property of her deceased brother, in the Dining Room, fell to the ground while she was in the Living Room
  • The homeowner stated that her boyfriend reported that the Bedroom closet door opened by itself several inches, when it had been closed

At 7:40 pm, the homeowner guided us around the apartment and pointed out specifically where activity had occurred. While walking through the Living Room to the stairway to the Basement, John felt very light headed for several minutes. The EMF level was checked and it was found to be in normal range (less than 1 mG).

John went to the Bedroom and attempted to get the closet door to open by quickly opening and closing the bedroom door, even though the claim was that no one had opened the bedroom door at the time of occurrence. He was unable to cause the heavy closet door to open.

At 7:50 pm, the homeowner left the residence and took her sole pet cat with her. She advised she would return at 11:00 pm to participate in the investigation.

John attempted to cause the lighter on the nightstand to illuminate by dropping it and shaking it as well as trying to activate it by static electricity, with negative results. It should be noted that the lighter is apparently powered by a battery. Other than igniting the lighter through conventional means, John was unable to cause the red and blue lights to illuminate. It is possible that when the battery level is low, it may cause the lights in the lighter to malfunction as has been noted with children’s toys.

John instructed Kyle to go outside, along the sides of the apartment to determine if voices can be heard inside the apartment. John maintained cell phone contact with Kyle as Kyle was outside talking in a normal volume. While John was able to hear Kyle talking, it was clear that it was coming from outside.

John inspected the plastic edging of the poster in the dining room that had fallen off. The plastic edging was a very tight fit along the poster frame. John was unable to place the edging on the poster frame in a way that the edging was able to fall down on its own accord. However, it could be possible that over time the edging could come down via vibration combined with gravity that may have caused the reported phenomenon.

John attempted to place a butter knife against the microwave on the counter and was able to do so with some effort. It was not possible to place the knife against the microwave simply by dropping the knife on the counter. John placed a butter knife on the counter as well as a glass as possible trigger objects.

John and Randy attempted to determine if car headlights coming from the street through the Living Room windows, which is an unbroken line of sight to the entrance to the Kitchen. At no time did any lights coming through the Living Room window cast any shadows.

START TIME: 8:44 pm

John, Randy, and Kyle spread out in the Bedroom and observed several minutes of silence to get accustomed to the normal noises in that area. John had set a police badge on the dresser in the Bedroom and the homeowner had placed a police flashlight that had belonged to her brother on the dresser as well, as trigger objects. The lighter remained on the nightstand, as usual. Randy had placed a negative ion detector in the middle of the room. An EMF pump was placed on the dresser in the Bedroom as well as a negative ion generator on the floor near the dresser. The negative ion generator was placed far enough away from the negative ion detector as to not activate it. We then began an EVP session.

At 9:17 pm, the negative ion generator activated when John asked for a spirit presence there to do so. John asked for it to be repeated, which did not occur. No one was moving at the time the negative ion generator was activated. However, since it was not repeated, it was determined that the unit activated by chance and was not paranormal in nature.

At 9:02 pm, John moved inside the closet. John indicated during his sensitive impressions that he felt that the closet was emotionally negatively charged. After nothing out of the ordinary happened, John exited the closet and Kyle entered it. At 9:25 pm, while asking any presences in the Bedroom to communicate, the negative ion generator activated, but we were unable to repeat the result.

END TIME: 9:42 pm

START TIME: 9:44 pm

The group situated themselves in the Kitchen. They observed silence for several minutes to get used to the normal sounds in the area and then began an EVP session. A geophone, which detects vibration, had been placed on the counter next to the glass. While discussing about how students had recently been shot at school, the geophone activated, while no one was moving. We were unable to determine an explanation as to what would have caused the geophone to activate. That was the only time the geophone activated while no one was moving. No other events happened during this session.

END TIME: 10:17 pm

START TIME: 10:19 pm

LOCATION: Living Room

The group spread out in the Living Room and observed silence for several minutes to get accustomed to the normal sounds in that area. We then began an EVP session. The group attempted to make contact with the previous renter who shot himself years ago but did not receive any audible responses to our questions.

END TIME: 10:52 pm

The group took a break, as the homeowner returned at 10:54 pm. The group debriefed the homeowner as to our experiences thus far.

START TIME: 11:10 pm

LOCATION: Dining Room

The group, including the homeowner, proceeded to the Dining Room. They observed several minutes of silence to get accustomed to the normal sounds in the area. After several minutes, Randy provided the homeowner and John with "amulets" made from computer diodes that are reported to increase sensitivity, intuitiveness, and happiness, as indicated by an advertisement from the internet. Randy had manufactured the amulets. After several minutes of conducting an EVP session, the homeowner stated she felt, "funny" and that her head started to hurt. She removed the amulet and the sensation went away. To test whether the amulet may have cause the effect, John asked the homeowner to put the amulet back on. The homeowner advised she did not feel any different after donning the amulet again. John did not notice any difference wearing the amulet compared to when he was not wearing it.

At 11:48 pm, they all heard a "snapping" noise which seemed to be coming from the Kitchen but it was determined it was likely the result of the furnace activating. No other events occurred during this session.

END TIME: 12:14 am

START TIME: 12:16 am

The group returned to the Bedroom and began an EVP session. At 12:28 am, John played the bagpipe tune, "Amazing Grace" from a Youtube video on his cell phone, as that tune is commonly played on bagpipes at police funerals. We did not receive any responses as a result.

At 12:50 am, the homeowner entered the closet as we continued our EVP session. Nothing out of the ordinary occurred and the session was ended a short time later.

END TIME: 12:55 am

LOCATION: Living Room

The group, including the homeowner, moved to the Living Room to continue our EVP session. Although we attempted to receive responses, nothing was heard or observed during this time.

END TIME: 1:15 am

John, Randy, and Kyle gathered and packed up their equipment before turning off their control recorders. No known activity occurred during the equipment removal. They thanked the homeowner for allowing them to investigate the residence. The homeowner advised she was moving to a different apartment in February 2013. John advised her to contact the group in the event she continued to have unexplained activity occurring and if she wanted us to return to investigate again.

The homeowner advised that since our walk through in November, she had not experienced any unexplained activity. Although there are numerous claims of unexplained activity, it occurred over a six year period. Even though there was no evidence obtained during the investigation, it is the opinion of PIM that further research would be necessary to determine if paranormal activity was occurring at the residence and/or around the homeowner. Since she is moving soon, further study at the current location is unlikely. However, if activity continues in her new location, PIM would be happy to conduct an investigation there as well.

PIM would like to thank the homeowner for allowing us to investigate her residence. PIM would be more than happy to conduct further investigations in the event that unexplained phenomena occur after they move to a new location.
