Jann, Chris and Andy arrived promptly at 7:00 pm. They spoke with the clients and her friends and family members about experiences they had while in the home.

At 7:25 pm the group unloaded gear and established a basecamp area in the 1st Floor Kitchen. They then went upstairs to evaluate the layout of the upper apartment as it is a small space and posed a challenge for camera setup.

The group went downstairs and began to set up their gear. A Zoom H1 recorder was placed in the Kitchen of the 1st Floor. A Sony DCR-SR85 video camera was placed in the Living Room angled so the door that had shut on its own was within view. A Zoom H2 audio recorder was placed on a chair in the Living Room as this is able to capture higher quality audio than the video camera.

The figurine that the clients had found in the Kitchen and a cast iron gun were placed as trigger objects on a small table within camera shot. Trigger objects are items that are used to attract the attention of spirits in hopes of eliciting activity. An Extech RHT10 Datalogger was also placed on the table. Dataloggers are used to take temperature and humidity readings at set time intervals.

At 8:00 pm, Jann went outside to take outdoor weather readings while Chris and Andy brought gear to the 2nd Floor. In the 2nd Floor apartment, a Sony DCR-SR45 video camera was placed inside the doorway of the Bedroom adjacent to the Kitchen. The camera was aiming toward the Kitchen which is where the man claims to have received scratches on his neck from an unknown source.

A Paracorder EVP booster was placed on the Kitchen table. This device generates an electromagnetic field which theoretically can be used by spirits to facilitate communication. An Extech RHT10 Datalogger was also placed on the table, and A Polaroid PDR-400 audio recorder was placed on the range which is located near the table.

A Sony HDR-CX190 was placed on the kitchen counter and aimed so it would capture the window of the front room where people have reported seeing someone looking out. The curtains were pulled shut in hopes of catching evidence of movement.

While Chris and Andy finished setting up gear in the 2nd Floor, Jann took temperature and EMF (Electromagnetic Field) readings of the premises. Baseline readings of these factors are done because acute changes in the electromagnetic field and in ambient temperature are thought to be associated with paranormal activity.

  • People report feeling ill upon entering the house
  • Loud noises coming from the 2nd Floor when no one is up there
  • People report feeling angry in the Basement with no rational cause
  • Items misplaced and cupboards being open when resident returns to the home
  • Scratches on the neck of a friend of the resident with no explainable source
  • Living Room door closing on its own
  • A figurine was found in the Kitchen and the last time anyone had seen it, it was in the Basement
  • People have reported looking at the house and seeing a person peering out of the front window on the 2nd Floor

START TIME: 9:00 pm

LOCATION: 1st and 2nd Floors

The group did a passive investigation of the premises until the next morning. A passive investigation is one where gear is set up and allowed to run for a period of time without interference in hopes of capturing paranormal activity on audio and video recorders. Despite this being a passive investigation, the investigators did try to encourage activity by acting as though one of the investigators may keep the cast iron gun that was used as a trigger object. Unfortunately, there was no observable activity as a result.

During an active investigation, participants would do experiments in order to find a normal explanation for what was being perceived as paranormal phenomena. Another approach during an active investigation is to do an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) session. This is when investigators ask questions in hopes of receiving a response that is captured on recording devices. PIM is looking forward to doing this type of investigation at the residence in the future.

Though investigators did not stay on the premises, some personal experiences were noted. At 8:30 pm, while in the Bedroom farthest from the front door, Chris stated that he felt like he was tapped on the forehead. Approximately thirty minutes later, Jann noted that she felt as though someone had touched her ponytail while in the Living Room. Unfortunately, there was no captured evidence that supports these claims so they will remain personal experiences.

END TIME: 2:00 pm, May 19, 2013

PIM has reviewed all audio and video recordings taken during the investigation; unfortunately, no evidence of paranormal activity was captured on our equipment. Since activity is unpredictable, and our time at a location is limited, we urge our clients to continue to track any activity they observe, and welcome opportunities to return to the location in the future.

As always, PIM is grateful for the opportunity to investigate private residences. We would love the opportunity to return to this location to do an active investigation. We would like to give our sincere thanks to the family of the former owner of this residence for allowing us to be of service to you.
