Although discontinued, the EDI+ datalogger is a very useful device that was created and sold by CenTex Paranormal. Units can still be had on the secondary market but at a much inflated price. This device is fairly unique for all the sensors that are included in the device that also datalogs to an SD card. The device datalogs temperature, EMF, and humidity, and also has a geophone built into it. This device datalogs for the entire investigation, and records the data to an SD card that can be used to generate graphs of each variable over time on a computer after the investigation. If anything occurs during an investigation that is anomalous, the EDI+ datalogger could be used to see if any of the variables it was recording changed when the event occurred.
The EDI+ does have some drawbacks. First, it is only a single-axis EMF sensor, so the EMF readings will be dependent on the orientation of the meter. Second, from testing that PIM has done, the EMF sensor does not appear to be shielded properly so when another sensor is triggered it can cause the EMF sensor to trigger as well. We have noticed this when the barometric pressure sensor light goes off and then seeing an EMF sensor trigger as well. As such, PIM takes any EMF readings with a grain of salt when analyzing the data after an investigation.
Specs:
EMF
- Low frequency detection down to 10 hz
- Accurate milligaus readings from 0-11mg
- Single axis
- Indicator lights start dim response at approximately 1 milligauss and light sequentially at various strengths up to 11mg
- Speaker responds at approximately 3 milligauss
VIBRATION SENSOR
- 3 Axis Accelerometer with high pass filtered output to measures changes in acceleration in the +- 2G range
