Arrival
This was another co-investigation with Heartland Paranormal Investigators. Members of HPI had gotten to Elsing’s 2nd Hand Shop hours prior to PIM’s arrival. PIM arrived at approximately 4:30 p.m. Sensitives Candice and Karen at that point did their initial walk-thru of the shop. Deidre went with Karen as she had never seen how a walk-thru was done by a sensitive before.
Impressions:
Candace:
Candace began in the lower level. Below are Candace’s impressions – verbatim from her voice recorder:
“Stoughton 10/25/2009. 4:42 doing walk through. Automatically at the bottom of the stairs there’s a large amount of energy emanating from the cubby hole. There a girl and someone else I can’t figure out who they are. There’s a larger amount of energy coming from the hallway that leads to the bookroom. There’s a lot of people, a lot more energy in the bookroom. A lot of people are aware we are here. A lot of people compared to last time.
Furniture Room feels empty of entities and energy. And immediately before opening the door to the storage room, huge amount of energy. Simon definitely knows we are here. Just as angry as last time, and not happy. He’s waiting at that door, and not happy that I’m here. Now heading to main floor.
The toy area, I don’t pick up on any body here. Picking up a male in dishes area near the bathroom area. Young Mid-20s. Kind of weak – not really able to pick up on him so much. He’s kind of a little shy, not necessarily of us. Downstairs picked up on at least 2 or 3 entities in the cubby. I’d say at least 3-4 energies in the Holiday Room, but much more than possibly 6 in the book room. All of them are aware they are here. Not sure of their intentions.
Not sure how it’s going to go tonight. I know that they (HPI) don’t want to concentrate on the furniture room and I’m not sure if they’re going to go towards the back. Not sure how that’s going to go. Maybe we can just keep the door shut when spending the night. I think he’s afraid to, I don’t think Simon’s afraid of crossing his boundaries from his area of the back. Seems like he’s willing to go further out this time. When he was before, he wouldn’t walk into the furniture room – he’d stick to his area before, this time it seems like he’s going to go further. Now I’m just waiting for Karen and Deidre to finish upstairs. I’m just wandering around waiting for them to finish.
Now I’m heading upstairs, automatically get the impression going up there, something faint, can’t really pick up on it. Definitely pick up on a few people. Pick up on a few people watching from the banister. I can’t pick up on who it is. I think it’s two young females, dresses, possibly dresses from before. Very faint. Can’t pick up on too much else now, possibly the other woman, but can’t tell who it is. And I’m done, and going downstairs. And it is 4:47 p.m.”
Karen:
Karen started her walk thru in the attic. Below are her impressions, as well as her thoughts throughout the night and following morning:
“Upon entering the building, all seemed normal. Deidre and I headed upstairs to the attic as my first place to evaluate – she had never seen anyone observe and give their impression before.
As soon as I started up the stairs, I felt a very negative feeling as soon as I took the first stair. Felt as if we weren’t wanted. Walking past all of that, I could sense a large black mass in the far right corner as I had in the past. As I had the previous time, I also sense the older gentleman presence near the middle of the room on the right side, which to me is definitely a residual energy.
Deidre also had some pain in her back when we were first coming up past the stairs. It happened 2-3 times, but she is unsure if it was paranormal or a possible natural explanation.
We then went to the main floor since Deidre needed to go to the bathroom. In the process, I did an evaluation of the main floor. I sensed a woman in her late 30’s/early 40’s in the middle aisle of the back room. I sensed that she had blondish, short hair like Vicky’s, but that it was also curled. She had a thin frame. To me, she was looking at the stuff on the shelves, but I also sensed that she knew we were there.
I also thought while we were standing in the front of the main floor that I saw someone walk past me near the beaded jewelry section.
We headed to the basement, where as soon as I started walking down the stairs, the feeling was very heavy and angry (similar to the attic, but worse).
I didn’t pick up anything in the holiday room, but I did pick up on a male spirit in his 20’s in the book room. I also picked up on a child under the stairs – I could not tell if it was male or female though.
After dinner, Candace and I took a re-walk through together. We started with the attic where we both felt the back of the attic seemed heavy. Candace stayed by the stairs while I went to the back. I heard noises back there, and actually felt like someone tapped the book I was holding in my left hand. We also would later hear what sounded like shuffling right next to us by the top of the stairs.
We then went down to the furniture room where I continued to pick up someone in the book room. Candace would feel whatever it was more after I left that area.
In the furniture room, we felt it was a lot calmer. I went to the door by the back of the furniture room and kicked open the door. When it stopped, we both heard what sounded like a woman cry out. Tried recreating it by closing and reopening the door. It did not happen again.
Throughout the night, I felt someone come into the furniture room after Kurt came back from the back room. It was a negative feeling energy.
When I was in the attic with Vicky, I didn’t sense much until it was almost time for her and I leaving to head to the furniture room. I started to feel the old lady near the stairs starting to become stronger as we sat there, but she only stayed by the stairs this time.
Candace and I would stay on the stairs during the group session with the music playing. I constantly felt as if someone was down the hallway just standing near by.
On the main floor during our final group session, I would feel the presence of an older gentleman where Vicky’s “office” is – by the refrigerator. He seemed to pace back and forth and seemed to not know we were there.
In the morning, upon waking up, I felt the presence of a young boy sitting cross legged behind my head. He seemed to be young, maybe 8 or 9. He seemed to be wearing shorts and a short-sleeve shirt with some sort of overalls. It appeared to me that he was watching me sleep.”
Several voice recorders were left in the shop while both groups and Vicky went to dinner. A recorder was left near the plates on the main floor, one was left on the stairs leading to the furniture room, and another was left in the furniture room. A few possible noises were heard, and a scream was picked up during this time (please see audio CD for evidence).
Investigation
Vicky had to leave to attend personal business. Members of HPI and PIM at that point began the investigation approximately 7:00 p.m. Kurt and Barry began on the main floor doing EMF readings. (At the time of this report, members of PIM do not have the findings of those EMF readings – HPI would have that information). All other members from both groups sat and discussed their feelings on things with the location.
A little while later, Barry and Kurt headed to the attic to continue doing readings, while all other investigators went to the furniture room to start an EVP session. No activities were reported at that time.
All groups then regrouped on the main floor, where Vicky also joined as she had gotten back to the shop. All members went back do the furniture room, where people split off to sit in various areas of the lower level – Kurt was in the back room, Krista and Rhonda sat in the hallway by the holiday room, while all other members sat in the furniture room. No odd activities occurred at this time.
After it was decided to go upstairs for a bit, it was noticed that the EXIT sign by the cubby was out. Vicky had no idea of why this was, as it was on previously throughout the night. Kurt had also come from the back room at this point, and both Karen and Candace felt as if Kurt was followed by something into the furniture room that seemed negative. He would later state that on his way from the back room that he thought he heard noises following him as he was leaving – whether they were paranormal or not has not been determined.
Several voice recorders were then left in the furniture room, while all members went to the main floor. All investigators were upstairs for at least 30 minutes or so.
It was decided at that point to split into mini groups. Karen and Vicky went to the attic; Kurt, Barry and Candace went to the cubby area; while Deidre, Krista and Rhonda were on the main level. No activity was noticed in the attic or the main room. Near the cubby area, the group heard noises coming from the metal chair under the cubby. Candace also told Kurt to take a picture down the hallway as she sensed someone was down there. One photo that was taken was suspicious (please see evidence). Other photos were taken to try to recreate this, but it did reoccur.
Kurt then decided to try big band music in the furniture room. Candace and Karen stayed by the stairs with the cubby, while the rest were spread out in the furniture room. Several possible EVPs were caught during this point (please see audio CD for evidence). Kurt at one point decided to sit at the top of the stairs. There he stated he saw movement near the bottom of his half of the stairs. No other activities occurred at this point. The group then tried using “ghost” noise to see if it would help. No activities occurred during this experiment.
Approximately around 12 a.m., it was decided to wrap up the investigation. All members and Vicky headed to the main floor. For one last try, the group did an EVP session in the main room. Candace sensed a young man standing near the stairs that go toward the basement. No other activities were reported.
No major activity was reported throughout the night. Several members slept on the main floor, while Barry and Kurt were in the furniture room. Candace thought at one point she heard bells chiming from the toy room – that was where she slept for the duration of the night.

Conclusion
Several EVPs were captured by members of PIM. EVPs caught by HPI will be submitted to Vicky Elsing by a member of HPI at a later date. A description of each EVP has been listed on the file name, as well as the location. Some may have the approximate time frame in which the EVP was caught.
