Arrival

The group arrived on location at 7:10 pm and began unloading their equipment. Base camp was set up in the Living Room. The group began setting up equipment and Mary took baseline EMF and temperature readings at 7:45 pm (see table below). Baseline EMF (electromagnetic field) readings were taken with Dark Matter DM-X930 data logger. The DM-X930 data logger measures and records several environmental factors, including: temperature, EMF, humidity, barometric pressure and is also a digital audio recorder.

At 8:26 pm, Mary used a Kestrel 3000 Weather Station to obtain outdoor weather condition readings. John then took baseline digital photographs of the apartment to document where items were located, in the event that objects were moved.

A Spectorcamcorder, a full spectrum, high definition video camera was placed in the Kitchen. A Zoom H1 digital audio recorder was placed on the counter near the sink.

A Sony HDR-CX160 full spectrum, high definition video camera was placed in the Living Room by the Bathroom, directed towards the Living Room and Dining room area. Two Sony HDR-XR200V high definition video cameras were also placed in the Living Room, one by the Front Door facing the bedrooms and one facing the kitchen. A Zoom H1 digital audio recorder was placed on the entertainment center in the Living Room. An EMF pump was placed in front of the television. An EMF Vortex (a type of EMF pump which emits an electromagnetic field in a clockwise or counter-clockwise pattern) was placed here as well. An EMF pump emits different frequencies of electromagnetic fields into the surrounding area. The use of an EMF pump is based on the theory that spirits need energy to manifest or manipulate objects. A Negative Ion Generator was placed in the Living Room also along with several trigger objects. These trigger objects consisted of a Bible and a vial of Holy Water. Eggs were also placed in the refrigerator and on the dining room table in addition to two batteries and a tape dispenser, due to the nature of some of the claims of these objects being thrown.

A Zoom H1 audio recorder was placed in the Bathroom.

A Sony DCR-DVD610 video camera was set up in the Master Bedroom. A Zoom H1 audio recorder and an EMF Pump v2 were placed here as well.

Every member of PIM is equipped with a Zoom H1 digital audio recorder, as a control recorder, which they carry on their person. Control recorders are not only used as another recording device but also to discriminate the sound contamination that an investigator might create during an investigation. Control recorders are started and time stamped prior to all other equipment being started and time stamped. Time stamps, from a designated atomic watch, are used as a point of reference and make cross referencing easier during evidence review.

It was decided that the investigation would start with lights on initially, since the family stated activity occurred while they were awake and lights were on.

During equipment set up at 7:54 pm, Tony heard what sounded like dishes rattling in the cupboard. It was determined that this was likely to have been Tupperware shifting in the cupboard and not paranormal in nature.

The group finished setting up and started all equipment. At 8:19 pm, John and Tony tried to start their dataloggers, which records humidity, temperature, and barometric pressure but neither one could get theirs to turn on. It was later determined that John’s datalogger was defective. The group took a short break before beginning the investigation.

Claims of Activity

  • A blanket in the Master Bedroom was slowly pulled off the bed while the Female Client and her sister lay on the bed
  • Numerous objects thrown in the apartment by an unknown source
  • Orange colored liquid found on wall in the Kitchen and Bathroom. Several minutes before found, the liquid was not observed
  • Green colored liquid found on the Kitchen floor. The liquid, which was in droplets, was reported to have materialized within a several minute time window

The residence is an apartment in a four apartment building complex. It is occupied by the Female Client, the Male Client, her fiancee, eleven year old Daughter and nine year old Son. The Female Client advised the activity began on April 25th, in the evening, with the blanket being pulled off the bed in the Master Bedroom. The Female Client and Male Client advised that the following day, items such as pennies, candles, nail polish bottles and a can of hair spray, amongst other miscellaneous items were thrown in the apartment. The Male Client indicated that they had approximately fourteen eggs thrown in one day, several striking the Female Client.

On Tuesday, April 29th, John and Gravy did a walk through at the residence and spoke to the Clients regarding the reported activity. While there, they did observe the orange and green liquid substances found on the walls and Kitchen floor. PIM then scheduled an investigation for Saturday May 3, 2014.

Investigation

Living Room – 9:15 pm

Controlled silence is a common practice to get acclimated to and tag or document the normal sounds of the buildings and its surrounding environmental noises.

Each person in the group seated themselves in the Living Room. Tony and John were on the couch nearest the door, and Mary on the couch across from them. The group started with a few minutes of controlled silence. It was noted that there was quite a bit of outside traffic noise as well as noise coming from the other apartments.

After silence was observed, the group began an EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) session. An EVP session is conducted by asking several questions but leaving a minimum of ten seconds in between each question in the event a response is captured on a nearby device. Investigators speak in full voice and tag any abnormal noises they might make during an investigation.

Common noises that investigators tag are stomach growls, accidental whispering and shifting or moving noises they might create what could be mistaken as something paranormal during evidence review.

At 9:17 pm, John reported he had become very lightheaded and dizzy. He stepped out of the apartment to get some air. After several minutes, he returned stating he did not feel any better. At 9:35 pm Tony was sitting on the couch with the back of his hand resting on the seat of the couch. He felt a small piece of plastic hit the palm of his hand. It was determined that this was the piece of plastic John had removed from the vial of Holy Water. Tony determined that the piece of plastic must have been caught on his shorts and when he shifted, the piece flipped into his hand.

At 9:27 pm, Tony went to sit in the Master Bedroom. He reported that noise from the apartment from across the hall could be heard distinctly from the open closet in this room.

At 9:53 pm, the apartment lights were turned off. It was noted that significant light was coming in through window from the street light outside.

At 10:11 pm the group decided to split up. John remained in the Living Room; Mary went to the Master Bedroom, and Tony to the Kid’s Room.

At 10:15 pm, another EVP session was started.

At 10:33 pm John began sprinkling Holy Water throughout the apartment. This was done based on the claim that when the Male Client read scripture out of the Bible, activity seemed to increase. When he entered the Bathroom, Tony reported hearing what he described as a growl. No other activity occurred during this time and the group concluded the EVP session.

END TIME: 10:34 pm

At 10:35 pm, the group decided to take a short break.

At 11:10 pm, it was decided to bring the Residents of the apartment back in. The Female Client went to the Master Bedroom to watch TV while the Male Client and two children remained in the Living Room and started watching TV. No other activity occurred during this time.

At 12:33 am the group members decided to step outside to see if any activity would begin if the residents were left alone. The group returned at 12:45 am, and there was no reported activity.

At 1:15 am the Daughter left the apartment. The group was passively investigating at this point, since when most of the claims occurred, the Clients were just conducting casual activity in the apartment. Nothing out of the ordinary occurred during this time.

At 1:41 am the investigation ended.

Conclusion

The nature of the reported activity is very interesting to PIM. Even though the investigation did not produce any evidence of the paranormal, PIM would like to state their time at this residence was brief in comparison to the time spent by the family. PIM would suggest that the family continue to document any potentially paranormal activity. This will help PIM to determine whether the claims are explainable or not.

PIM would like to thank the Clients for inviting PIM into their home. PIM would be happy to return to the apartment if activity continues.
